Our Binary Amplitude Diffuser combines the best of both worlds: absorption and diffusion. By blending the control of an absorber with the openness of a diffuser, Binary Amplitude Diffuser panels let you manage reflections and decay time without making your room sound lifeless.

Mount them over any of our Hi-Mid, Broadband, Bass Trap, or SubFreq™ panels to create a hybrid acoustic system that controls low frequencies while scattering mids and highs for a more natural, musical feel.

Frame and Construction Materials
  • Material: Baltic Birch plywood, precision CNC-cut
  • Construction: Binary amplitude-style pattern using multiple wood slats for one-dimensional diffusion
  • Finish: Sanded to 220 grit, unfinished
  • Design: ¼" thick Baltic Birch plywood construction with ¾" holes, designed to mount over existing absorption panels

Our construction approach prioritizes long-term performance and structural integrity while using premium materials.

Wood Finish and Customization

Binary Amplitude Diffusers come unfinished, sanded to 220 grit and ready to install as-is. The raw Baltic Birch finish is beautiful and requires no additional treatment.

Optional finishing: Customers may stain or paint their diffusers without affecting acoustic performance. Leaving the wood unfinished showcases the beauty of Baltic Birch and allows us to keep prices down while using premium materials like Baltic Birch instead of MDF or lower-grade plywood.

Indoor Use and Safety

All materials used in Binary Amplitude Diffusers are appropriate for indoor environments, including studios, homes, offices, schools, and houses of worship.

  • Baltic Birch plywood is designed for interior architectural use
  • Materials are stable and durable in typical indoor conditions

Binary Amplitude Diffusers are designed to mount directly over existing acoustic panels.

Designed for the Critical Range

We engineered our Binary Amplitude Diffuser using a true maximum-length sequence (MLS) pattern, with 1.9" spacing and ¾" holes on the “1” cells. This design scatters sound evenly across the 1.8–7.1 kHz range — right in the critical speech and musical midrange — for clear, natural diffusion that enhances both accuracy and enjoyment.

Bring Life Into
Every Room.

When you treat a room for low-frequency control, it’s easy to go too far. Covering every surface in absorption can make a space sound overly tight or “dead.” That can leave mixes feeling flat, listening rooms less immersive, and home theaters missing that sense of depth and energy.

Binary Amplitude Diffusers restore balance. Their pattern of precisely sized holes scatters high and mid frequencies, keeping the room lively and three-dimensional while your low-end remains tight and controlled. The result is a space that feels balanced, accurate, and engaging — with just the right amount of life left in the sound.

Your Questions: Answered

  • Binary Amplitude Diffusers mount directly over existing acoustic panels using 4 included screws.

  • No. Binary Amplitude Diffusers are designed specifically to mount over existing absorption panels like Bass Traps or Broadband Panels. They work by scattering mid and high frequencies while the panels underneath handle low-frequency control. Without absorption behind them, they won't deliver the balanced acoustic performance they're designed for.

  • Binary Amplitude Diffusers work best mounted over panels on sidewalls near early reflection points or on the back wall behind your listening position. The goal is to balance absorption with diffusion in areas where you need low-frequency control but want to maintain spatial cues. Experiment with placement to find what sounds best in your specific room.

  • No. Binary Amplitude Diffusers come sanded and ready to install as-is. The raw Baltic Birch finish looks great in most spaces, but you can stain or paint them if you prefer. Just avoid heavy coatings that could fill the holes, as this may affect acoustic performance.
